Our Mission
The mission of Brenda Jean’s Sober Living Facility is for each resident to have the opportunity to work through individual problems and gain control of their lives. We provide each resident educational and business opportunities to develop professionally, as they increase self-esteem and advance in the work force. All residents will move towards reconciliation and re-unification with their families and friends, essentially helping them become highly reliable citizens of society.
Internship Program
Brenda Jean’s have agreements with four higher education institutions and two community agencies: Bakersfield College, California State University Bakersfield, Santa Barbra Business College, UEI College, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, and CalWORKs Employment Preparation Program. The purpose of our Internship program is to provide every intern with quality experience in working with the homeless, mental health, substance abuse, and probation/parole.
Food Pantry
Brenda Jean's Sober Living Facility purchases food to distribute to the homeless and to families in need. Individuals can call 211 and receive information on when we are distributing free groceries. The emergency grocery bags are designed to get an individual or a family through the week. Every week, the individual or family can return for another emergency bag of groceries. Brenda Jean's Food Pantry mission is to provide free food to anyone in need.
Soup Kitchen
Brenda Jean's Sober Living Facility purchases food that is then cooked by safe food serve certified kitchen staff for the homeless and to families in need. Brenda Jean's Soup Kitchen will be in full operation. Individuals can call 211 and receive information on the dates and times food is served.
